Young World Physical Education is seeking an Assistant Coach for Boys Tennis at Parkrose High School in Portland, Oregon. This position, starting immediately and lasting until May 2026, involves creating a positive learning environment for student-athletes and managing their behavior during school athletics.

The ideal candidate will have successful coaching experience in boys tennis and the ability to promote the sport positively while adhering to OSAA and District eligibility requirements.

Assistant Coach – Boys Tennis

Parkrose High School – Portland, Oregon

Starting Date: Immediately

Duration: March – May 2026

Position Type: Limited Term

Salary: Level E – $4,444 per month (prorated over a 3‑month period)

Responsibilities

• Provide a positive learning environment and act as a positive role model for athletes.
• Teach skills necessary for successful performance under the guidance of the head coach.
• Manage athlete behavior during training sessions, meets, and events.
• Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and School Board policies.
• Attend all meets and events scheduled for the sport, including coaches’ meetings.
• Organize and schedule practice sessions regularly to develop athletes’ potential under the guidance of the Head Coach.
• Apply discipline in a firm yet positive manner.

Qualifications

• Successful coaching experience in boys tennis.
• Current knowledge of innovative coaching ideas and techniques.
• Ability to promote the sport within the school district and community positively and responsibly.
• Meeting OSAA and District eligibility requirements.

Requirements

• Experience working with high school students in a sports setting.
• Verification of identity and prior employment.
• Holding or ability to acquire certifications, including:
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (State Department of Education)
  • Online District Safety Training (Safe Schools Program)
  • Current First Aid and CPR/AED card
  • ASEP/NFHS Coaching Certification
  • OSAA Concussion, Steroid, and Heat Prevention certifications
• Reports to the Athletic Director and Building Principal.
