University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an Assistant Coach for Field Hockey to support the head coach with practices, competitions, and player development. The role includes recruiting and program administration to foster academic and athletic excellence.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and coaching experience in intercollegiate athletics, with strong leadership and communication skills to motivate and guide student-athletes.
Assist the head coach with all aspects of the Field Hockey program including but not limited to practice competition activities, player skill development, recruiting, directing and implementing plans for daily practices and competitions, organizing and administering clinics etc. and overall administrative tasks within the operation of the program. Must demonstrate integrity, leadership, a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel and recruit academically qualified students.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.
At least one year of coaching experience in an intercollegiate environment preferably at a Division I level. Knowledge of Field Hockey techniques, terminology and skill awareness essential. Knowledge of and familiarity of NCAA rules and regulations. Good organizational, interpersonal communications and computer skills necessary.
Master’s Degree preferred. Prefer at least 1 year in relevant independent or educational activities.
Must be able to lift/move 25lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Attention to detail essential. Must be able to manage high volume, fast paced environment. May be subject to working in extreme weather conditions. Travel required.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
