PURPOSE

This position will assist with maintaining the boys’ basketball program.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  1. Assist with maintaining the boys’ basketball program.
  2. Maintain positive communication with patrons and parents of athletes and potential athletes.
  3. Assist with coordinating off-season camps and conditioning programs.
  4. Encourage good sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the sport.
  5. Collaborate with other coaches to ensure a comprehensive approach to athletes.
  6. Ensure compliance with MSHAA.
  7. Maintain statistics on all players.

Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports To: Athletic Director

Supervises: None

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum: 60 hours of college credit, Missouri Substitute teaching certificate, and Sport First Aid Course. If hired via a substitute certificate, must complete (with 80%) the MSHSAA-approved coaches education program (NFICEP) before coaching in subsequent years. All coaches must attend NFICEP first-aid class and pass the exit test.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, Missouri teaching certificate, prior coaching/teaching experience.

Ideal candidates will have a professional and friendly demeanor with the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
