Job summary

Johnson & Wales University is looking for an Assistant Coach to work under the head coach in supervising and developing an intercollegiate varsity team. This role includes overseeing practices, developing recruitment plans, and fostering both academic and athletic progress for student athletes.

The ideal candidate should have at least an associate's degree alongside relevant coaching experience and be able to work flexible hours, including afternoons, nights, and weekends. Qualifications

• Minimum of an associate's degree or a combination of education/certification(s) and/or experience suitable for the position.
• Moderate amount of experience with athletic coaching or related experience.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.
• First Aid, CPR, AED certification or willingness to attain such certification(s) upon hire.
• Ability to work afternoon practices with some night and weekend matches.

Responsibilities

• Oversee practices and contests, providing competitive experiences for student athletes.
• Develop recruitment plans for student athletes.
• Establish team rules and protocols.
• Foster personal development and competitive spirit of student athletes.
• Emphasize academic progress for student athletes.
• Attend recruitment trips as needed.
• Supervise the team at off-campus competitions.
• Provide game strategy recommendations to the head coach.
• Represent the university at athletic events.
• Oversee fundraising activities for team expenses.
• Supervise and develop department staff needs.
