Description: We are seeking a full-time faculty member for the School of Nurse Anesthesia. Under the general supervision of the Director of the School of Nurse Anesthesia, the faculty member will assume teaching responsibilities for didactic courses in the nurse anesthesia program.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the recruitment, selection and evaluation of candidates during the admission process as well as assist in establishing and maintaining admission and selection criteria.
- Assist in the design and implementation of curriculum that enables students to obtain proper certification and ensures courses adhere to established guidelines and standards.
- Assist in the didactic phase of the Program, specifically, providing instruction in the classroom, simulation and skills lab, and via distance education platforms.
- Counsel students in collaboration with the Program Director and assist in the development of clinical remediation plans during the didactic and clinical phases of the program.
- Assist in the preparation of required reports as requested by the program director.
- Serve on school and college committees as requested.
- Maintain a program of personal professional growth by engaging in scholarly activity, university and community service and other pursuits commensurate with faculty rank and status.
- Network internally and externally with other institutions, schools, faculties and professional organizations for personal and program enrichment.
- Attend continuing education and national association meetings for personal and professional development.
- Act in an advisory role to assigned students throughout the academic year.
Qualifications:
- A doctoral degree, PhD, DNP, DNAP, or EdD is required.
- Maintain current RN licensure and certification and/or recertification as a CRNA in the state of Maine as well as being a dues-paying member of the AANA.
- A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years clinical experience as a practicing CRNA. Previous teaching and/or management experience is desired.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills, as the incumbent must handle a range of responsibilities that include school administration, faculty and student interaction, teaching, internal and external networking, as well as patient involvement as a practicing CRNA.
- Must be able to operate independently using initiative and judgment to manage multiple priorities while guiding and teaching students, collaborating with faculty and interacting with university and hospital administrations.
- Must possess a high degree of analytical and problem-solving skills to perform ongoing review, evaluation, and enhancement of program curriculum as well as be able to assess and evaluate student performance in accordance with program standards and protocols.
- Must be highly accountable for the supervision, education, and training of graduates and dedicated to the goal of producing high quality nurse anesthesia practitioners.
- Must possess a high degree of honesty and integrity, ensuring confidential faculty and student information is safeguarded.
