Job description

Job Description:

Assistant Clinical Director

Leadership + Clinical Practice

Location: Pittsford, NY

Position Type: Full-time | Primarily In-Person with Hybrid Flexibility

Salary: $90,000$95,000, commensurate with experience

Lead. Practice. Make an Impact.

Are you an experienced clinician who loves patient care but is also ready to step into a meaningful leadership role?

We are seeking an Assistant Clinical Director to join a growing, mission-driven mental health practice. This is a unique opportunity for an LMSW or LMHC who wants the best of both worlds: the ability to continue practicing clinically while also helping lead a team, strengthen operations, and shape the future of a growing organization.

This is not a purely administrative leadership position. You will remain connected to the work that brought you into the field, maintaining a small clinical caseload of approximately 12 direct-service hours per week, while spending the remainder of your time focused on leadership, staff supervision, operations, and practice development.

The Opportunity

As Assistant Clinical Director, you will become a key member of the leadership team and work closely with the Founder/Director. You'll have an opportunity to influence how the practice operates, support and develop staff, improve processes, and help create an exceptional experience for both patients and clinicians.

The organization is growing and evolving, so we're looking for someone who enjoys being part of that process. The right person will be grounded, flexible, collaborative, proactive, and comfortable making decisions when priorities shift.

Leadership & Operations
  • Help lead the day-to-day administrative operations of the practice
  • Set priorities for the administrative team in partnership with the Founder/Director
  • Supervise, train, onboard, and support administrative staff
  • Provide constructive feedback and address performance challenges
  • Develop and refine policies, procedures, and workflows as the practice grows
  • Oversee areas including referrals, phones, insurance billing, patient collections, and staff coordination
  • Partner with clinical leadership to improve patient services, operational efficiency, and business strategy
  • Help create a positive, accountable, and collaborative team environment
Clinical Practice

You’ll also continue doing the clinical work you enjoy.

  • Maintain approximately 12 direct-service hours per week
  • Provide clinical services within your area of interest or specialty
  • Collaborate with other clinicians as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Help support a culture centered on compassionate, evidence-based, whole-person care
Who Will Thrive Here?

We are looking for a leader who can balance compassion with accountability and big-picture thinking with day-to-day execution.

You’ll Likely Be Successful If You Are Someone Who:
  • Enjoys leading and motivating others
  • Remains calm and thoughtful when things get busy
  • Takes initiative rather than waiting to be told what needs to happen
  • Is comfortable solving problems independently while knowing when to collaborate
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully with patients, clinicians, staff, and leadership
  • Is organized and capable of balancing clinical responsibilities with leadership priorities
  • Embraces change and enjoys helping build better systems and processes
  • Leads with steadiness, humility, and accountability
Qualifications
  • Completed LMSW or LMHC with a valid New York State professional license
  • Minimum of 2 years of management-level experience, including direct involvement in operations and staff supervision
  • Healthcare leadership experience is preferred but not required
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, supervisory, and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, time-management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfortable learning and working within healthcare and administrative software systems
Compensation & Benefits

$90,000$95,000, based on experience.

Benefits And Practice Support Include:
  • Four weeks of PTO annually
  • 8 paid national holidays
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Complimentary $10,000 life insurance policy with additional coverage options
  • Administrative support for scheduling, phones, records requests, referrals, and paperwork
  • Marketing and incoming referral support
  • Electronic health record with patient portal
  • Billing and collections support
  • Furnished office space
