The City of Norwalk is seeking a Civil Engineer / Land Surveyor to lead planning, design and inspection of public works projects on-site in Norwalk, CT. Responsibilities include preparing plans, performing cost estimates and guiding survey crews.

Required is a civil engineering or land surveying degree with 2 years of related experience and eligibility for Engineer-in-Training or higher certification within two years. Strong technical writing and supervision skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Land Surveying.
• Two years of Civil Engineering experience or equivalent training to obtain engineer-in-training certification or higher.
• License or Certification eligibility within two years ( Engineer-in-Training, PE, or licensed Land Surveyor).

Responsabilités

• Lead in preparing plans, specifications and designs for public works projects.
• Prepare preliminary costs and material estimates for construction projects.
• Inspect construction projects and ensure conformance to designs and schedules.
• Provide technical information to City Departments and Commissions.
• Supervise survey crew and lower professional staff; coordinate field work.
