Job summary

The City of Tucson's City Attorney’s Office seeks an Assistant City Prosecutor in the Criminal Division to prepare cases for misdemeanor prosecution, conduct legal research, draft motions, and argue in court. This on-site role at City Hall requires no remote work arrangements.

Ideal candidates hold a JD, are in good standing with the Arizona State Bar, and possess a valid driver’s license. ALAP eligibility is considered; experience with criminal law clinics or related programs is preferred.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree required.
• Member in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
• ALAP qualifying employer status and AZ Bar eligibility will be considered.
• Recent criminal law exposure via clinic or relevant program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent the State at hearings and court appearances, including plea negotiations.
• Review police reports, evaluate charges, and draft motions and memos.
• Represent the State in jury and bench trials with oral arguments.
• Assist with training and mentoring newly hired prosecutors.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the department.
