Job summary

Eagle Mountain City is seeking a qualified City Attorney to oversee civil litigation, provide legal counsel to city leadership, and draft city contracts, ordinances, and resolutions. This role requires strong research, drafting, and advocacy skills and active Utah bar membership.

The attorney will coordinate with the City Manager, Mayor, and City Council, represent the city in court, and assist in policy formation and compliance with applicable laws.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited college or university.
• Three years of progressively responsible legal experience.
• Active membership in the State Bar of Utah.
• Admission to practice before Utah State Courts and the U.S. District Court for Utah

Responsibilities

• Represents the city in prosecution of civil cases; conducts research, reviews investigation reports, files formal complaints, prepares case materials.
• Appears in court and presents evidence and arguments.
• Drafts contracts, ordinances, resolutions, leases and other legal documents; provides legal advice to city boards and departments.
• Under City Attorney direction, serves as legal counsel to city manager, mayor, council and committees; attends meetings and reviews legal documents.
• Assists in policy development and city-wide compliance with laws.
