Job summary

Saro Cider is seeking an Assistant Cider Maker to join a small, adventure‑driven team in Lincoln, Nebraska. You will clean and sanitize equipment, blend ciders and assist in packaging into cans and kegs.

As training progresses, you will participate in flavor development and fermentation to grow toward a Cider Maker role. This full‑time position includes learning cidery software, maintaining records, and occasional community tastings.

Qualifications

• Education or experience in alcohol manufacturing and production is preferred but not required.
• Comfort with technology and basic Excel functions are expected.
• Positive attitude and excellent communication skills are important as we grow.

Responsibilities

• Participate directly in cidermaking through equipment sanitization, cleaning, blending and packaging.
• Operate, maintain and clean equipment in test batches and full commercial batches.
• Maintain detailed records about production, cleaning and maintenance with writing and math skills.
• Learn cidery software to track production and inventory.
• Occasional community tastings and sampling events.
• Weekly deliveries and one shift opening the Taproom as a bartender.

Job description

Saro is looking for an individual to be a part of daily procedures to maintain the production of quality hard cider. The primary role of our Assistant Cider Maker is to clean and sanitize equipment, blend ciders, and help package into cans and kegs. As training progresses, you will become involved in flavor development as well as fermentation. This position is being built as a training course for a future Cider Maker position that will grow with Saro Cider. The right candidate can use this opportunity gain the necessary experience to step into that role.

We are a regional cider producer with a team that enjoys traveling, the outdoors, and the flavorful ciders inspired by these adventures. We are seeking someone to help us continue to create ciders without added sugar or preservatives inspired by a sense of adventure.

Daily Adventures & Responsibilities

• This position is full time at 40 hours/week with the opportunity for flexible scheduling.
• Participate directly in cidermaking process through equipment sanitization, facility maintenance and cleaning, as well as product blending and packaging.
• Operate, maintain, and clean equipment in both small test batch sizes and full commercial batches.
• Use writing and math skills to accurately maintain detailed records about production, cleaning, and maintenance processes.
• Maintain safety and health standards for self and co-workers.
• Learn and use cidery software to track production and inventory use.
• Attend training opportunities as they arise or are necessary.
• Occasional participation in the community at tastings and sampling events.

In addition to the cider making duties, this position will be responsible for

• Once per week cider case and keg deliveries around Lincoln, Omaha, and to the Saro Omaha Event Lounge
• One shift per week opening the Saro Taproom as a bartender

Qualifications

• Ideal candidates applying for Saro share a passion for adventures of any size and can translate this into the crafting of flavorful cider.
• Education or experience in alcohol manufacturing and production, ideally in the cider/wine industry, will be given extra attention, but is not required.
• Comfortability with technology, including document management systems on PC or tablet, and proficiency with basic Excel functions.
• Positive attitude and excellent communication skills as we continue to grow
• Adaptable to change and ability to problem solve.
• Able to regularly lift 50lbs and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, push, lift, kneel, and reach, sometimes repetitively.
• Willing to acquire the appropriate certificates and attend trainings as they arise, such as forklift training, alcohol service permits, etc.
• The applicant must be 21+.
• A current drivers' license.
