Drueding Center, located at 4th and Master Street in Philadelphia, partners with families experiencing homelessness to support them in building skills to heal from trauma, restore hope, and end the cycle of homelessness through a trauma-informed and housing-first approach. This work is accomplished through three interrelated departments – Residential Services, Community Services, and Child Care.
Drueding Childcare Center provides high-quality (4A Keystone STARS) early childhood education to children from the transitional housing program and the local community. Our Center offers full-day year-round education in five developmentally appropriate classrooms for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years (including one PHLpreK classroom).
We are currently seeking qualified and caring Assistant Teachers to join our team full-time!
SUMMARY OF JOB
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the head teacher to teach, guide, and supervise children 6 weeks to 5 years using a trauma-informed approach and in accordance with NAEYC, Keystone STARS, and DHS guidelines. Responsibilities include arranging and maintaining educational materials and equipment, logging daily activities, keeping records, preparing reports, and communicating with parents on a daily basis. The position requires maintaining a Professional Development record and meeting all training mandates. This position assumes all duties of the classroom in the Head Teacher's absence.
