Assistant Director of Daycare Facility
Essential Information: Assist with the management and oversight of daily operations of an established childcare center. Prior work in early childhood education is also essential.
ProCare: Experience with ProCare or similar system
Director Training: Must complete 40-hour Bright from the Start Approved Director Training within 6 months of start date.
Duties
Job Duties: Responsible for managing the staff schedule, working with staff to properly implement the Center's curriculum, overseeing physical facilities, and participating in selecting potential staff and managing the overall image of the center. With the Center Director, responsible for compliance with all local and federal laws governing child care, both in regard to the physical environment and the staff.
Curriculum Development: The Assistant director works with qualified center staff to ensure the Center's curriculum is properly implemented according to the Center Director's vision.
Facilities Management: The Assistant Director shares responsibility with the Center Director to ensure that the center's physical facilities comply with local, state, and federal laws and are a safe and appropriate environment for children.
Staffing Management: The childcare center is staffed by teachers, teacher aides, assistants, and cooks. The Assistant Director will manage the weekly schedule for all staff and will participate in the hiring process, maintaining staff development and education and, if necessary, managing disciplinary processes.
Parental Communication and Involvement: The Assistant Director, in partnership with the Center Director, often serves as the 'face' of the school and assists with the management of communication with parents and the community. The Assistant Director works to ensure that the Center's policies are communicated to parents as needed, and that all Center policies are upheld by staff. As such, the Assistant Director must be friendly, approachable, and professional always when communicating with the Center's clients.
Job Duties:
- Assist with the supervision of Center personnel
- Communicate policies to staff and parents
- Assist staff in resolving conflicts between children and communicating with parents
- Assist with facility maintenance and cleaning according to state regulations, ensuring staff complete daily cleaning requirements as scheduled
- Assist with the hiring and training of new staff members
- Manage staff schedule to ensure compliance with ratio requirements per room and that all Center operating requirements are met at all times
- Help staff resolve conflicts between children
- Assist staff in communicating with parents
- Follow directions and guidelines of Center Director
- Complete initial documentation for monthly paperwork, such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
- Other Duties associated with the center as assigned.
Requirements
Other Requirements: License and CDA required; early childhood education experience necessary
