Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and security are the first considerations in aircraft operations and promote safety as a core value with SMS involvement.
  • Perform SMS Facilitator duties as assigned and apply Safety Risk Management when new systems are implemented, revised, or procedures developed.
  • Ensure all flight operations are conducted within 14 CFR, TSRs, and company policies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Regulations, AIM, Operations Bulletins, Read Files, and disseminate information to crewmembers.
  • Assist the Chief Pilot in ensuring crewmembers use the Weight/Balance Program for revenue flights.
  • Ensure pilots understand and respond to customer requirements.
  • Be responsible for managing Q-Pulse action items in line with CFR Part 5 and SMSF.

Flight Crewmembers must cooperate completely with the Assistant Chief Pilot in order for the Assistant Chief Pilot to fulfill the requirements outlined in the company manuals and applicable parts of 14 CFR.

Note: The Assistant Chief Pilot is authorized to fulfill any interdepartmental procedures requiring the Chief Pilot’s involvement.

The Assistant Chief Pilot shall assume the duties of the Chief Pilot in his absence. He must always be alert to areas of safety that may be improved upon. Flight Crewmembers must cooperate completely with the Assistant Chief Pilot in order for him to fulfill the requirements outlined in the company manuals and applicable parts of 14 CFR.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • To serve as Assistant Chief Pilot, a person must hold an airline transport pilot certificate with appropriate ratings for at least one of the airplanes used in the certificate holder's operation.
  • Be qualified through training, experience, and expertise.
  • To the extent of their responsibilities, have a full understanding of the following materials with respect to the certificate holder's operation:
    • Aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
    • 14 CFR Chapter I (Federal Aviation Regulations).
    • The certificate holder's operations specifications.
    • All appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements of the applicable parts of 14 CFR, including Parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 121.
    • The manual required by 14 CFR 121.133.
  • Discharge their duties to meet applicable legal requirements and to maintain safe operations.
Required Training, Experience, And Expertise
  • The Assistant Chief Pilot must be rated in at least one type of aircraft operated by GoJet and, as their duties allow, maintain their Line Qualification status.
  • The Assistant Chief Pilot will also, when able, attend industry meetings and network with other airline officials, as their duties allow, to remain current on pertinent industry events and practices.
  • The Assistant Chief Pilot will maintain technical competence based on continued education and training, which consists of, at a minimum, completion of the ground-training portion of Continuing Qualification (CQ) in accordance with AQPTM 8-1.2.C.1.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safety and security are the first considerations in aircraft operations and promote safety as a core value, including the implementation, maintenance, development, and integration of the company’s SMS.
  • Perform SMS Facilitator duties as assigned by the departmental director and apply Safety Risk Management (SMSF 2-0) when any of the following occur:
    • Implementation of a new system.
    • Revision of an existing system.
    • Development of operational procedures.
    • Identification of hazards or ineffective risk controls through the Safety Assurance process. (SAM 1-3; SMSF 1-2.4, 1-3.1, 2-0.1, 4-1)
  • Ensure all flight operations are conducted within all applicable parts of 14 CFR, TSRs, and company policies and procedures.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Pilot, maintain in current form Regulations, Airman’s Information Manual, Operations Bulletins, Read Files, etc., and ensure proper dissemination of all pertinent information to Flight Crewmembers.
  • Assist the Chief Pilot in ensuring each crewmember utilizes the approved company Weight/Balance Program for each flight that operates with any form of revenue on board.
  • Ensure pilots are aware of and remain sensitive to customer requirements.
  • Be responsible for ensuring all stages and action items assigned to them in the Q-Pulse database are managed in accordance with the principles of 14 CFR Part 5 and the SMSF and completed in a timely manner.
