Job summary

InnVentures in Seattle is seeking an Assistant Chief of Maintenance to lead our maintenance team at the Residence Inn Downtown Seattle Lake Union. You will oversee daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure preventative maintenance across all hotel areas to keep guest experiences seamless and safe.

The role requires prior maintenance and supervisory experience in a hotel setting, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance and supervisory experience in hotel or property management is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for a full shift.
• Weekend and holiday availability; able to respond after hours in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations, sustainability programs, inventory, ordering, and scheduling within budget.
• Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance across hotel areas; inspect work for quality.

• Oversee safety programs and key control throughout the hotel.
• Greet guests and assist with requests; build loyalty with long-term and repeat guests.
• Support hotel goals through teamwork and cross-department collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, supervise, motivate, counsel and recognize the maintenance staff.
• Oversee daily operations, sustainability programs, inventory, ordering, and scheduling all within a set department budget.
• Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance in all areas of the hotel and inspect work completed by others to ensure quality and standards are met.
• Troubleshoot various technical devices such as key card systems, internet equipment, television equipment, etc.
• Oversee safety programs and key control throughout the hotel.
• Greet and assist guests with all requests. Proactively garner relationships with long term and repeat guests to develop loyalty and maintain a high level of satisfaction.
• Support the goals of the hotel through teamwork and collaboration with all departments.

Qualifications

Previous maintenance and supervisory experience in hotel or property management is required. To be successful in this role, you need strong verbal and written communication skills. This job requires continuous movement, regularly bending, lifting, carrying, and moving up to 50 pounds. You must also be able to stand and walk for an entire shift and able to climb at least four flights of stairs. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays and must be able to respond after normal working hours in case of emergencies.

For Employees Based in Washington:

For Employees Based in Colorado:

• 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
• 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

• 8 paid holidays per year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
• Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
