Job summary

Forest View Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) to lead nursing staff and adolescent programming within a private psychiatric facility serving children, adolescents and adults. The role requires strong leadership, clinical oversight, and administrative coordination of admissions, discharges and care plans.

The ACNO will guide nursing practice, crisis management and interdepartmental collaboration, ensuring safe, therapeutic milieus and compliance

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Basic understanding of psychiatric nursing theory and practice with previous psychiatric clinical experience desired.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency in providing general nursing care.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Michigan.
  • CPR/HWC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall leadership for nursing staff.
  • Triages admissions and coordinates discharges and admissions with ARC Department.
  • Provides leadership in emergencies for the units.
  • Oversees staffing for current shift and next shift.
  • Utilizing the nursing process, the RN develops an initial nursing treatment plan for each admitted patient.
  • Competent in assessing, planning, and delivering care for patients with co-occurring disorders.
  • The nurse continually assesses and reassesses the patient’s medical and psychiatric status and changing needs.
  • Participates with other team members in planning and implementing the patient’s treatment plan.
  • Directs and participates with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.
  • Assists with discharge planning and works with patient’s discharges.
  • Provides leadership to other personnel in crisis behavioral management. Determines the need for the use of seclusion and/or restraint with patients, assesses the patient’s physical and emotional status and determines the cessation of their use, when appropriate.
  • Provides medication administration, medication teaching activities, assessment of medication side effects and medication efficacy, and assists physicians in obtaining informed consent.
  • Maintains own professionalism and adheres to the determined standards of care and performance.
  • Accurately transcribes physician orders according to nursing policy and procedure.
  • Adheres to the Infection Control policies and procedures of the hospital and follows standard precautions at all times.
  • Assesses and reassesses patients pain and provides nursing care as needed.
  • Attend Monthly Clinical Staff meetings or read minutes and sign form of acknowledgement.
  • Maintains and stays current with nursing standards of care and nursing practices.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle incoming crisis calls, make referrals and complete assessments as necessary.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain therapeutic relationships, which do not allow self-disclosure of personal/social information to patients and adheres to the Professional Boundary Policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems.

As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for a Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) position.

The ACNO provides leadership for adolescent programming as well as nursing care to patients as assigned, utilizing the nursing process.

Schedule: This is a Fulltime, 40 hour a week.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
