Job summary

Johns Hopkins University seeks an Assistant Chief Medical Officer to lead throughput and operational improvements at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and coordination with medical directors and interdisciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will have board eligibility/certification, substantial clinical time, and experience in performance improvement. Collaboration across departments and regular committee involvement are expected.

Qualifications

• Fully licensed attending staff on Johns Hopkins Children's Center medical staff.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in their discipline; 2–3 years in primary practice.
• Administrative medicine training or advanced degree desirable but not required.
• Familiar with performance improvement, resource management, care coordination, safety, risk, and regulatory affairs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Capacity Command Center and interdisciplinary team to improve safety, quality, coordination, and efficiency of medical care.
• Review and implement action plans with JHCC CCC Nurse Leader for Serious Safety Events and HERO events related to throughput.
• Attend monthly meetings with the Associate Chief Medical Officer and other Medical Directors.
• Participate in workup and root cause analysis of throughput-related serious events.
• Monitor and analyze patient data to identify throughput improvement opportunities at JHCC CCC.
• Coordinate with Residency and Fellowship Training Directors to identify hazards in trainee oversight and supervision.
• Serve on key committees: Clinical Operations monthly, JHCC Quality and Safety monthly, JHCC CCC HERO Review, and related stakeholder meetings.
