Job summary

Ohio State University is seeking an Assistant Chief Flight Instructor in Columbus, Ohio. The role supports FAA Part 141 requirements, assists the Chief Flight Instructor, supervises instructors, and develops flight safety and instructional programs within the University Airport Flight Education unit.

The position involves classroom and flight instruction, checks, and coordination of staff and aircraft, with on-call emergencies and a regular 40-hour week schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Meets FAA Part 141 qualifications; instructional activity within the last 24 months and experience with a Part 141 certified flight school.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Flight Instructors and administers flight education.
• Develops and monitors flight safety programs.
• Provides flight and classroom instruction.
• Conducts stage checks, progress checks and final flight tests.
• Provides initial and annual standardization of oral and practical checks.
• Assures instruction quality and student progress/completion, including exams and check-rides.
• Coordinates and schedules personnel and aircraft.
