Job summary

Stellantis NV in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE) to lead transmission and driveline programs, guide a team of FMs, AEs, and DSEs, and coordinate across engineering functions.

You will drive program milestones, manage risk, and represent the organization in steering and review meetings, delivering prototype and production transmission solutions that meet vehicle requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in transmission/driveline engineering with 3+ years propulsion experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Meet program deliverables and objectives: cost, timing, efficiency, performance, mass, NVH, CQI, 3MIS, EPUS, JD Power metrics.
• Oversee transmission projects for a vehicle family (hardware, software, calibration, packaging, builds, validation, design changes).
• Interface with Vehicle/PT Integration, AME, Purchasing, EE Core, Controls, Calibration, Quality, and Suppliers.

Job description

The Chief Engineering Team is the fully accountable single point technical contact for transmission and driveline products. This includes all aspects of product delivery for current production, new product development, or advanced projects. (the “what” and the “when”).

The Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE) is responsible for oversight of the assigned core program(s) as well as all integration programs. The ACE supports the chief engineer in directing a team of family (project) managers (FMs), Application Engineers (AEs), Design System Engineers (DSEs).

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for meeting or exceeding program deliverables and functional objectives (i.e. cost, timing, efficiency, performance, mass, NVH, and CQI, 3MIS, EPUS, JD Power quality metrics)
• Oversight of all aspects of the transmission project for a given vehicle family (hardware, software, calibration, packaging, builds, validation, ED&D, DVPR, Statement of Work, Design Change Requests, etc)
• Technical Interface to Vehicle & PT Integration, AME, Purchasing, EE Core, ePT, Controls, Calibration, Quality, Suppliers and EE Systems
• Leads engineering teams to deliver prototype & production transmission solutions that meet vehicle / program requirements
• Reviews, approves & tracks the System DVP&R and supports the development of the component DVP&Rs
• Co-leads proactive Risk Management tasks with QRE Team (i.e. DFMEAs, DFSS, LUR, Heat Map, Reliability Demonstration)
• Tracks & leads resolution of all eCIMS/GIMs
• Leads program cost roll ups (i.e. piece cost, tooling, ED&D) with manufacturing engineers & SCIE
• Represents chief organization in high level meetings as needed (Steering Committees, PRs, MRs, IH mtgs, PC-prep mtgs, VIT mtgs, etc)

Basic Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related degree field
• A minimum of 7 years of engineering experience in transmission and/or driveline design, releasing, development, validation, calibration, manufacturing, program management, etc, with a minimum of 3 years in propulsion system experience.
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

• Masters Degree in Engineering
