Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable Assistant Chief Engineer for the DoubleTree by Hilton in Billings, MT.

Job Purpose:

The Asst. Chief Engineer is responsible for assisting with the overall operation of the maintenance department, ensuring the appearance and working order of the hotel. This role includes administering the company’s maintenance and life safety programs, overseeing purchasing, preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, hotel security, and supervising the maintenance department. Warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance reassure guests they’ve made the right choice to stay with us.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction at all times, modeling and adhering to the Guest Service Standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the maintenance staff, inspecting work performance to ensure compliance with procedures, policies, and expectations.
  • Ensure effective scheduling to meet financial objectives and maintain product quality.
  • Monitor budget and control departmental expenses, including maintenance contracts and utility expenses.
  • Participate in preparing the annual departmental operating budget and Capital plans aligned with hotel objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, state, local, and federal policies and guidelines related to maintaining a clean, safe environment for associates, guests, and vendors.
  • Oversee proper operation of the hotel’s equipment and systems, including life safety, telecommunications, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, pool, kitchen, laundry, and other related systems.
  • Handle maintenance requests promptly and courteously, including logging and follow-up.
  • Hire, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate department staff.
  • Communicate regularly with the Assistant General Manager, OM, and/or General Manager regarding the condition of the building, systems, and equipment, offering cost-effective maintenance proposals.
  • Supervise external contractors employed for maintenance work.
  • Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the company.
Qualifications and Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent. Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt processes and standards preferred.

This job requires the ability to perform the following:

  • Speak, read, write, and understand primary workplace languages.
  • Read and write effectively for communication.
  • Work in a team environment, often as a team leader, with minimal supervision.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have basic computational and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs, budgeting, and analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment like chillers, boilers, and refrigeration systems.
  • Understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, and maintenance of related records.
  • Experience with office procedures, procurement, city codes, building construction, and blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws including equal employment opportunity, OSHA, wage and hour laws, etc.
