Commercial Assistant Chief Building Engineer

Position Details

Type: Direct Hire; Salary: $75k+/year

Location: Austin, TX

Responsibilities

1. Perform and assist in the maintenance, repair, operation, and general upkeep of assigned properties.
2. Respond to tenant requests concerning lighting, plumbing, and other building issues.
3. Conduct preventative maintenance on building systems, including structures, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components.
4. Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs of building systems.
5. Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors as needed.
6. Support other company departments as requested.
7. Participate in safety training, adhere to safety policies, and use safety equipment. Identify and mitigate hazards.
8. Respond to after-hours calls and emergencies to ensure property and tenant safety.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

1. Travel to various site locations for maintenance and parts acquisition.
2. Use of tools, equipment, and electronic devices, with approximately 60% of time spent on hand tools and work order systems.
3. Exposure to adverse conditions (noise, weather, hazards, fumes) over 80% of work time.
4. Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, handling electricity, heights, chemicals, and other hazards.
5. Physical activities include heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, climbing, and operating tools safely.

Minimum Requirements

1. Experience in building maintenance preferred.
2. High School diploma or GED required; valid driver’s license needed.
3. Meet company MV operator criteria.

Additional Eligibility

1. HVAC certification is a plus.
2. Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
