Tetra Tech, Inc is currently seeking an Assistant Chemist to work in our San Bernadino, CA office. The position will provide support on an as needed basis for our environmental characterization and remediation consulting services for our clients and projects nationwide. The projects include small and large remedial investigations, groundwater monitoring programs, and remedial actions for private, local government, and Department of Defense (DoD) clients. The successful candidate will provide chemistry support, with a strong emphasis on environmental analytical chemistry.

Responsible for overseeing validation (up to Stage 4) of analytical chemistry data, including professional review of automated validation, in accordance with the National Functional Guidelines and the DoD Data Validation Guidelines.
Support data validation tasks, by providing chemistry support to project teams in interpreting laboratory data, preparing quality assurance project plans.
Will interface with laboratory personnel in resolving technical/quality issues.
Provide support in negotiations with regulatory agencies, as directed by our chemist and/or project managers.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry.
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data validation or related fields.
Hands‑on experience running EPA environmental test methods in a commercial production laboratory.
Expertise in EPA SW846 or Drinking Water analytical methods.
Expertise in laboratory analyses, field chemistry, and field sample collection.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word).
The selected candidate must be able to resolve conflicts with co‑workers, subcontractors, and project managers and provide solutions in a professional manner.
A pre‑employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Experience with relational databases and data management a plus.
Experience running ADR and preparing eQAPPs preferred.
Familiarity with the DoD QSM a plus.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 20lbs occasionally.
Office based tasks will consist of frequent sitting or standing at a desk using a computer and other office equipment.
This position is based out of the local San Bernardino, CA office with potential of a hybrid work arrangement, but the candidate must reside within 25 miles of the local office. This arrangement is subject to review and may change at the company’s discretion.
Work will be performed primarily in an office setting involving data entry, report preparation, documentation and communication with project managers, contractors, and clients. Work will occasionally be performed in a commercial production laboratory setting running environmental tests.
Part‑time temporary position, no scheduled hours. Hours will vary based on project/client needs.
Target salary range: $50.00 / hour to $80.00 / hour. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
