Job summary

John Marshall High School in Richmond, Virginia is seeking an Assistant Cheerleading Coach for the athletics program. This temporary, non-exempt, part-time role supports the cheer program at John Marshall High School with immediate start.

The coach will lead practices, coordinate with the principal and Student Activities Director, and ensure compliance with VHSL and district policies while supervising students and equipment.

Qualifications

• Licensed teachers or VHSL-approved personnel required to coach or sponsor activities.
• Ability to develop and manage VHSL-sanctioned athletic activities.
• Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coaches in the VHSL-sanctioned cheer program as appropriate.
• Plan and schedule regular practices in-season.
• Coach individuals to develop skills for excellence in the sport.
• Assist in selecting, assigning and evaluating assistant coaches.
• Collaborate with the Student Activities Director on uniforms and equipment purchases.
• Oversee maintenance, safety and cleanliness of uniforms, equipment and facilities.
• Adhere to VHSL policies and district regulations.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
• Issue and collect school properties used for activities.
• Plan an annual recognition program for qualifying students.
• Perform other related duties as required.
