Job summary

The Learning Experience – Lake Linganore is seeking an experienced Assistant Center Director to help launch our newest early childhood education center. You will work closely with the Center Director to manage daily operations, mentor staff, and drive enrollment growth.

Join a founding leadership team and help create a culture where children, families, and teachers thrive, while ensuring regulatory compliance and program quality across the center.

Qualifications

• Maryland OCC qualifications for Assistant Director (Senior Staff Member) in a licensed childcare center.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Coursework in Early Childhood Education and child development preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years leadership experience in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Maryland childcare licensing regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations with Center Director.
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop a high-performing teaching team.
• Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching and development.
• Ensure compliance with Maryland OCC regulations and company policies.
• Support curriculum implementation and classroom quality.
• Lead tours for prospective families and drive enrollment growth.
• Assist with scheduling, staffing, licensing documents, and administration.
• Foster a collaborative culture focused on teamwork and customer service.
• Step into classrooms to support children and teachers.

What You'll Do

• Partner with the Center Director to oversee the daily operations of the center
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop a high-performing teaching team
• Conduct classroom observations and provide ongoing coaching and professional development
• Ensure compliance with all Maryland Office of Child Care (OCC) regulations and company policies
• Support curriculum implementation and classroom quality throughout the center
• Lead tours for prospective families and help drive enrollment growth
• Assist with scheduling, staffing, licensing documentation, and center administration
• Foster a positive, collaborative culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and exceptional customer service
• Step into classrooms when needed to support children and teachers

Qualifications

• Must meet Maryland Office of Child Care qualifications for an Assistant Director (Senior Staff Member) in a licensed childcare center
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred
• Coursework in Early Childhood Education and child development preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred
• Strong knowledge of Maryland childcare licensing regulations
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Passion for mentoring teachers and delivering exceptional early childhood education
