The Assistant Center Director reports to the Center Director and ensures that the support services of the program including nutrition and food services, transportation, safety and security of the program are managed effectively and in compliance with Head Start Standards and Federal, State, and Agency policies. You may be assigned to provide center-wide oversight in the absence of the Center Director.
You will directly supervise Cooks, Assistant Cooks, Custodians, and Program Aides and oversee scheduling, performance management, and professional development of employees at the center. You will work closely with the Center Director, teaching and classroom staff to contribute to the overall success of the program, and may be reassigned to various centers as necessary for program operations.
As a front-line representative of Save the Children, you are required to ensure the safety and security of children and families that you come in contact with and embody the agency values of Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration, Creativity, and Integrity.
As a Save the Children employee in contact with children routinely, you are expected to prevent child abuse in every situation by applying mental awareness, good practice, and training to minimize risk. You must take positive steps to protect children who may be subjects of concern, report and respond to any instances of child abuse, and promote training and awareness around child safeguarding obligations.
Pre-employment requirements include background checks, health requirements, and possibly operating a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license. Preference given to current or former Head Start/Early Head Start parents if qualified.
