The Learning Experience – Gaithersburg, MD is seeking an Assistant Center Director to join our leadership team. You will coach teachers, support daily operations, and help our school reach its full potential.

This role works closely with the Center Director to lead a team, ensure licensing compliance, recruit staff, engage families, and promote a positive culture focused on teamwork and customer service.

Qualifications

• Must meet Maryland OCC qualifications for Assistant Director in a licensed childcare center
• 1–2 years of leadership experience in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred
• Knowledge of Maryland childcare licensing regulations
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Support the Center Director with day-to-day center management
• Coach and mentor teachers through observations and professional development
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and staff engagement
• Maintain compliance with Maryland OCC licensing regulations
• Support implementation of curriculum and classroom quality standards
• Conduct tours for prospective families and help increase enrollment

Location: The Learning Experience – Gaithersburg, MD

Pay: $54,000–$58,000 per year

Schedule: Full-Time

The Learning Experience – Gaithersburg is seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Center Director to join our leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an early childhood professional who enjoys coaching teachers, supporting daily operations, building relationships with families, and helping a growing school reach its full potential.

Working closely with the Center Director, you'll help lead a team dedicated to providing an exceptional educational experience where children learn, play, and thrive.

What You’ll Do

• Support the Center Director with the day-to-day management of the center
• Coach and mentor teachers through classroom observations and ongoing professional development
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and staff engagement
• Maintain compliance with Maryland Office of Child Care (OCC) licensing regulations
• Support implementation of The Learning Experience's curriculum and classroom quality standards

Qualifications

• Must meet Maryland Office of Child Care qualifications for an Assistant Director (Senior Staff Member) in a licensed childcare center
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred
• Coursework in Early Childhood Education and child development preferred
• Minimum of 1–2 years of leadership experience in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred
• Knowledge of Maryland childcare licensing regulations
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Passion for early childhood education and developing high-performing teams
