Reporting to the Cashier Department Manager and supervised by the Cashier Department Manager and/or Cashier Department Head and/or their delegate, you play a crucial role in maintaining the efficient and effective operation of the Cashier Department to achieve optimal performance and adherence to departmental standards. You serve as a deputy to the department leaders and assume part of their responsibilities when necessary. You will provide hands on support to team members and support the training and development of staff.

T&T Supermarkets is marking over 30 years as Canada’s favorite Asian grocery store and recently announced the first store location in the United States. Our growth into the US offers great opportunities within our first US flagship store, set to open in 2024 in Bellevue, Washington in the Marketplace at Factoria, spanning 76,000 sq.ft. and will stand as the largest Asian specialty supermarket in Washington state.

We have additional plans for growth and will also be establishing a regional office in the greater Los Angeles area to grow T&T Supermarket’s vendor base with American food suppliers.

You Will

• Support the team leaders by overseeing daily operations and staff performance, providing on-the-job training, guidance, and supervision to ensure the achievement of department goals through collaborative teamwork.
• Assist in cash management, staff uniforms and consumable items
• Generate various store management reports, follow up to address findings and optimize operational performance
• Collaborate with other department heads in arranging all in-store promotion activities
• Address customer complaints promptly and cultivate strong relationships with customers by offering attentive service, including a welcoming smile, eye contact, and personalized attention.
• Ensure exceptional customer service at the checkout, demonstrate professionalism, accuracy and efficiency
• Set a positive example for the team by consistently performing all assigned duties to a satisfactory standard, fostering a culture of excellence within the department.
• Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.
  
  

You Should Have/Be

• Good communication skills in English, proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred, demonstrating leadership capabilities.
• Basic understanding in marketing and event management, has ability to interpret data and market information.
• Good computer skills in MS Office.
• Well versed with workplace health and safety protocols.
• Familiar with relevant tools and equipment, able to interpret product labels accurately.
• Able to stand for extended periods
• Great organization, problem-solving, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
