- Shifts: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - Completion
- Compensation: $17.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Location: Freeport, NY
Role Overview:
The Carpenter Helper will assist in constructing, assembling, and finishing picture frames. This involves learning basic carpentry techniques, operating tools and equipment, and supporting the production of high-quality frames.
Key Responsibilities:
- Frame Assembly and Construction:
- Assist with measuring, cutting, and assembling frame components to exact specifications.
- Support joining and securing frame corners using techniques such as miter cuts and joinery.
- Help install glazing, backing materials, and hanging hardware.
- Tool and Equipment Operation:
- Operate hand and power tools like saws, clamps, and routers used in frame making.
- Material Handling:
- Load, unload, and organize materials including wood, glass, and backing boards.
- Prepare materials through measuring, cutting, and finishing.
- Quality Control and Finishing:
- Inspect frames to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Assist with sanding, painting, staining, or finishing as directed.
- Site Preparation and Clean-Up:
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and dispose of waste properly.
- Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned and stored after use.
- Learning and Development:
- Observe and learn from experienced carpenters.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines.
- Use PPE as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic understanding of carpentry tools and techniques is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and carrying materials.
