Job Opportunity: Carpenter Helper

Our client is a well-known and longstanding manufacturer of custom furnishings for homes and businesses. They are seeking a qualified Carpenter Helper to join their team.

Details:
  • Shifts: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - Completion
  • Compensation: $17.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on experience
  • Location: Freeport, NY
Role Overview:

The Carpenter Helper will assist in constructing, assembling, and finishing picture frames. This involves learning basic carpentry techniques, operating tools and equipment, and supporting the production of high-quality frames.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Frame Assembly and Construction:
    • Assist with measuring, cutting, and assembling frame components to exact specifications.
    • Support joining and securing frame corners using techniques such as miter cuts and joinery.
    • Help install glazing, backing materials, and hanging hardware.
  2. Tool and Equipment Operation:
    • Operate hand and power tools like saws, clamps, and routers used in frame making.
  3. Material Handling:
    • Load, unload, and organize materials including wood, glass, and backing boards.
    • Prepare materials through measuring, cutting, and finishing.
  4. Quality Control and Finishing:
    • Inspect frames to ensure quality and accuracy.
    • Assist with sanding, painting, staining, or finishing as directed.
  5. Site Preparation and Clean-Up:
    • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and dispose of waste properly.
    • Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned and stored after use.
  6. Learning and Development:
    • Observe and learn from experienced carpenters.
    • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills.
  7. Safety Compliance:
    • Follow safety protocols and guidelines.
    • Use PPE as required.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
