Job summary

Capital Camps & Retreat Center, based in North Bethesda, MD, seeks a full-time Assistant Camp Director to lead year-round operations, strengthen staff culture, and develop teen leadership. The role partners with the Camp Director to ensure a thriving, inclusive Jewish community across programs and camps.

The position involves supervising summer staff, coordinating recruitment and training, and guiding operations from the North Bethesda office with on-site duties in Waynesboro, PA during summer.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of professional experience in Jewish overnight camping or similar youth programs.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Exceptional professionalism and accountability.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork capabilities.
• Commitment to inclusive, values-driven community.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to reside on-site during the summer.

Responsibilities

• Lead summer staff recruitment, retention, and planning.
• Direct supervision of the summer leadership team and staff.
• Oversee staff training, placement, and performance management.
• Coordinate teen leadership programs and off-site trips.
• Collaborate with Camp Director and HR on compliance and logistics.
• Reside on-site at Capital Camps during the summer.
