Job summary

Berkshire Family YMCA in Pittsfield, MA is seeking an Assistant Camp Counselor to support lead counselors, help run daily activities, and uphold camp safety. This role focuses on fostering teamwork, creativity, and personal growth among campers.

You will supervise campers during activities, assist with program planning, and communicate with families and staff to address concerns. The position is seasonal/part-time with opportunities for training and advancement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualification: must be at least 16 years old and able to work with children.
  • Experience with children in camp or educational settings preferred.
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow safety protocols.
  • Preferred: CPR and First Aid certification, outdoor safety knowledge.

About the Role

The Assistant Camp Counselor plays a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and enjoyable environment for campers. The Assistant Camp Counselor will also be responsible for monitoring camper behavior and ensuring adherence to camp rules and safety protocols. By fostering positive relationships with campers, the Assistant Camp Counselor helps to build a sense of community and belonging within the camp. Ultimately, the goal of this role is to contribute to a memorable and impactful camp experience for all participants.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Previous experience working with children in a camp or educational setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience in leading recreational or educational activities.
  • Knowledge of outdoor skills and safety practices.
