Job summary

The City of Commerce is seeking Part-time Seasonal Summer Staff to assist with meal preparation and kitchen maintenance for their Camp Program. This role requires compliance with health department regulations and offers a chance to gain experience in a dynamic kitchen environment. Candidates must have a Food Handler's Certificate and ideally first aid training. The position will run from May 1st to September 30th and includes off-season training.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience in commercial food preparation required.
  • Food Handler's Certificate from the County Health Department mandatory.
  • First Aid & CPR training preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days.

(Part-time Seasonal Summer Staff will work from May 1st to September 30th Only)

The City of Commerce Camp Program is located at Lake Arrowhead, CA.

Under general supervision, assists with preparing meals for Camp Commerce clients, in compliance with health department regulations.The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
  • Assists with preparing meals according to standard recipes and health department regulations.
  • Cleans, slices, and chops food; maintains salad bar and self-serve area with fresh ingredients; provides kitchen support to cooks as instructed.
  • Cleans kitchen, and dining areas; maintains clean and sanitary conditions in facility in order to assure the highest degree of cleanliness of food production and service areas; cleans dishes, trays, pans, and cooking utensils; cleans kitchen equipment; cleans floors and surfaces in food preparation area.
  • Restocks food and supplies to the proper storage areas; assists with inventory.
  • Recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe conditions, accidents and injuries.
Education and Experience:
One year of experience in commercial food preparation is required.Required Licenses or Certifications:
Food Handler's Certificate from the County Health Department is required.
First Aid & CPR training is preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

***Expectation to attend off season training periodically.
