Job Summary

Our Apprentice Cake Decorator plays a vital role in ensuring our pastries are visually appealing and delicious. In addition to delivering exceptional guest service, you'll assist in creating beautiful cake designs and provide the sweets that make celebrations special. Your main duties include training in all aspects of the Bakery Department, including Clerk and Baker functions, with a focus on cake decorating, especially for those with minimal or no retail decorating experience. To succeed, you should be a team player who supports colleagues, is eager to grow into leadership, and inspires others. Creativity, passion for food trends, and a desire to connect with customers are essential to bring our culinary vision to life and ensure each guest experiences our passion for quality food.

Job Description

• Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
• Education Desired: No High School diploma required
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Learn product knowledge, procedures, and techniques related to bakery products, special orders, cake decorating, and seasonal items.
• Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock and inventory goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and enhance guest experience.
• Prioritize safety in all tasks for team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests, answering questions, and offering suggestions.
• Become familiar with store products to assist customers effectively.
• Handle products and equipment safely, adhering to food safety and safety guidelines.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to promote products.
• Prepare and decorate baked goods for display, ensuring freshness and proper rotation.
• Offer sampling opportunities when appropriate.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, work areas, and storage spaces.
• Assist in unloading deliveries and maintaining backroom efficiency.
• Follow department procedures, including setup, order taking, and product rotation.
• Support other areas of the bakery department as needed.
