Job summary

Schmitt Music is seeking an Assistant Buyer in Bloomington, MN. You will help manage accessory categories—reeds, strings, cases, and maintenance items—by creating POs, tracking status, and maintaining SKU data. You’ll work closely with sales teams and Educational Representatives to ensure product availability and timely ordering.

You will use AIM POS to place orders, coordinate replenishments, and communicate substitutes when needed, supporting peak seasons with accuracy and teamwork.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of musical instruments and accessories.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills to ensure order accuracy.
• Customer-focused with clear communication and teamwork.
• Proficiency with AIM POS or similar purchasing systems.

Responsibilities

• Create and submit purchase orders with vendor partners accurately and on time.
• Track order status, ETAs, and backorders; communicate updates and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate SKU data to support purchasing and sales execution.
• Provide proactive support to educational representatives and internal teams.
• Coordinate replenishment purchasing with Inventory Controller and store teams.
• Monitor vendor lead times and substitutions to minimize lost accessory sales.
• Assist with institutional accessory orders during peak seasons; ensure data accuracy.
