Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Buyer at its corporate office in Chesapeake, VA. You will work with Buyers to plan, purchase, and merchandise assigned categories to drive sales and profits, while supporting pricing, ads, and promotional efforts.

Responsibilities include developing category strategies, creating ads, analyzing trends, and supporting assortment decisions. A Bachelor's degree and retail buying experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• One year or more of retail buying or related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a four-year college or university preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Buyers to develop competitive customer and market strategies for targeted merchandise and pricing.
• Create/select ads and endcaps for stores, proofreading ads and coupons with Buyers for accuracy.
• Assist Buyers with fashion, seasonal, and other programs to maximize sales and company goals.
• Create MicroStrategy and other reports as requested by Buyers.
• Analyze categories regularly to identify opportunities, trends, and sales shortfalls; design targeted action plans.
