Position Summary
The Assistant Business Office Manager supports the Business Office Manager in managing administrative, billing, accounting, and payroll functions in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Reports to: Business Office Manager (BOM)
Education, Experience, and Licensure/Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or similar experience preferred.
- At least one (1) year of experience in post-acute care or a related geriatric field preferred.
- Experience in Medicare and Insurance Billing is required.
Specific Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
- Ability to implement and interpret programs, goals, policies, and procedures of the business office.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Knowledge of administrative practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post-acute care facilities.
- Competence in general business office responsibilities, including cash receipts, billing, patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Maintains confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information.
- Adheres to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
- Displays integrity and professionalism, adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completing mandatory training.
- Promotes a culture of integrity, maintains an open-door policy, and supports reporting of concerns.
- Implements and ensures 100% participation in the compliance program and Code of Conduct by staff.
Essential Functions
- Assist in managing bookkeeping functions: posting payments, balancing receipts, collecting delinquent accounts, and referring unpaid accounts to collections.
- Maintain and reconcile the facility checkbook regularly.
- Manage patient accounts.
- Perform duties of the BOM in their absence.
- Provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude towards patients.
- Assist in patient evacuation procedures.
- Maintain dependable attendance.
- Use reasoning and judgment skills effectively.
- Communicate and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
- Perform physical activities as needed, including sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling during work hours.
- Read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Lift and carry up to 20 lbs and push/pull 20 lbs as required.
