Job summary

TYLin is seeking an Assistant Bridge Inspector to join the Bridge Sector. The role reports to the Principal Bridge and supports inspection teams, writes reports, conducts load ratings, and prepares related documents.

The schedule blends daytime fieldwork with occasional nighttime field work, in a mix of on-site and office/work-from-home environments. Qualified candidates will have a structural/ Civil engineering background, 0–5 years of bridge inspection experience, and a valid U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis, or equivalent work experience.
• 0-5 years of bridge inspection/design experience.
• Engineer-In-Training certification desired.
• NBIS Bridge Safety inspector preferred; FHWA/NHI courses advantageous.
• Bridge load rating experience a plus.
• Safety-conscious with personal and team safety mindset.
• Familiar with structural design software and AASHTO LRFD specs preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.

• Perform DOT routine bridge inspections and lead inspection teams.
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis for bridge load ratings.
• Review and understand engineering plans and details.
• Perform quantity take-offs.
• Assist with project monitoring and scheduling.

Job Summary

We are seeking an Assistant Bridge Inspector to join TYLin’s Bridge Sector. This position will report to the Principal Bridge. In this role you will be responsible for assisting inspection teams, writing reports, conducting load ratings, creating Maintenance of Traffic plans, operating equipment, performing nondestructive testing, and preparing related documents. This position has a dynamic schedule, including a mix of daytime field and office work and occasional nighttime field work. The work environment consists of a mix of on-site field and office/work-from-home. Within a team atmosphere we plan to foster your knowledge and get you prepared and well-placed to learn and grow!

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis, or equivalent work experience.
• 0 - 5 years of experience in bridge inspection and design.
• Engineer-In-Training Certification desired
• NBIS Certified Bridge Safety inspector preferred. Taken the 2-week FHWA/NHI Bridge Safety Inspection courses preferred.
• Bridge Load Rating Experience is a plus.
• Safety conscious and will be responsible for their personal safety and the safety of their fellow team members
• Familiar with structural design software and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license
