Job summary

The Harbor Bank of Maryland is hiring an Assistant Branch Manager in Randallstown, MD to lead branch operations, drive sales, and deliver exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will have at least 3–5 years in retail banking, strong knowledge of banking products, and a proven ability to develop staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in retail banking, with progressive responsibility in branch operations, sales, and customer service.
• Strong knowledge of retail banking products and services, including deposit accounts, consumer lending, and IRA accounts.
• Proven ability to lead and develop staff, implement operational procedures, and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements (BSA, AML, and other federal/state banking laws).

• Manages accounts (loans, deposits, IRA, CDs) and cross-sell services; supports account retention with Branch Manager guidance.
• Counsels customers on financial matters and strategies to achieve best results based on resources.
• Ensure timely completion of loan/deposit goals and strict regulatory compliance.

Position Overview

The Assistant Branch Manager plays a pivotal role in driving our mission at The Harbor Bank of Maryland. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional service, supporting team development, and ensuring operational excellence. The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for branch operations, developing/maintaining the retail banking business of prospective and existing customers. Assists the branch manager by directing operational functions of the branch and branch activities. The desired results must be exceptional, efficient, courteous and accurate. Implement personal banking concepts through the sale of loans, deposit accounts, and other retail banking services. Refers customers to other bank and company departments for additional service.Oversees and adheres to requirements pertaining to branch security, fraud prevention and BSA.

• Provides the appropriate managerial leadership and support to ensure that the office is structured to deliver the Bank’s products and services in an efficient and effective manner.


• Create and maintain an active selling environment.


• Oversees branch’s compliance with established policies, procedures, timely audit requirements and, efficient resolution to operational issues. Maintains operational readiness of the branch including supplies, files, records, and maintains housekeeping and ground keeping. Promotes security awareness and ensures that all security procedures are followed, implemented and maintained. Primary responsibility for the operational/procedural training of branch staff, observing teller line and conveying information and updates in a timely manner.


• Probes, listens, assesses, recommends, and sells bank products and services. Also, resolve customer relations issues through courtesy, respect and effective negotiation.


• Manages all account products, including installment loans, overdraft protection, checking, savings, certificates of deposit, individual retirement accounts (IRA’s) and other retail banking services. Services these accounts by assisting customers with loan applications, opening new accounts, cross-selling services, offering customers financial advice, resolving problems, making customer phone calls etc. Is responsible for account retention in conjunction with Branch Manager.


• Counsel customers regarding financial matters, advising them on products ad rates, and suggesting a strategy to obtain the best results based on individual desires and resources.


• Accountable for thorough, accurate, and timely work and for obtaining established loan and deposit goals.


• Comply with all federal and state regulations and rules impacting this position, meet all risk and compliance obligations, including the completion of required training.

Skills and Abilities:

• Normal interaction with department members and supervisor. Has extensive contact with customers in opening accounts and processing loans or other transactions.


• Human relations and communication skills, and full knowledge of all retail banking services in order to be able to sell the bank’s services aggressively.
