Job summary

Position Summary

The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) supervises and coordinates all branch staff, reports to branch leadership, and ensures efficient, policy‑compliant operations. The ABM coaches staff, manages teller and ATM functions, and maintains a customer‑centric environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate all branch staff activities to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Coach, train, and oversee member service staff on product promotion, transactions, balancing settlements, and member needs.
  • Manage teller functions, ATM balancing, night depository processing, and cash shipment.
  • Maintain branch policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance, including Bank Secrecy Act and AML.
  • Conduct surprise cash drawer audits and approve overrides within authorization limits.
  • Facilitate staff meetings, training, onboarding, performance management, and hiring processes.
  • Assist with loan interviews, processing, approvals, and closings; pre‑qualify mortgage loans and provide information as needed.
  • Resolve member account problems, support business development, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • At least 4 years of banking or retail experience, including branch staff supervision.
  • Prior lending experience preferred; ability to obtain NMLS where required.
  • Strong commitment to our mission and excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with credit union systems is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem‑solving, and data entry skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and people‑management skills; bilingual fluency may be required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, travel to other branches, and meet physical demands.
Physical Requirements

Close vision is required. Employees must sit, talk, hear, use hands to handle, reach, and perform frequent typing. Occasionally lift or move 20‑40 pounds.
