Job summary

Financial Plus Credit Union (FPCU) is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager for the Retail Delivery area. You will support the Branch Manager, drive member relationships, and help expand the sales culture while ensuring service excellence across the team.

You will coach staff, oversee daily operations in the branch, participate in security, audits, and policy adherence, and work toward sales goals through consultative lending and member engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Finance or Business or related experience.
  • 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • 2–3 years of sales and lending experience with ability to teach cross-selling techniques.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Branch Manager in supervising the branch team, scheduling, and coaching.
  • Promote and achieve sales goals through consultative selling and relationship-building.
  • Ensure branch security and compliance with policies and regulations.

Position Summary

Assists the Branch Manager or District Branch Manager and influences the profitability of the assigned branch with particular emphasis on building member relationships; expands the sales culture and provides leadership and resources to achieve desired results; directs branch staff activities towards attainment of branch sales goals; includes a consultative sales approach and conducts on-site business visits; utilizes problem solving, decision making, team building skills, and maintains a high degree of flexibility; promotes high morale and exhibits positive attitudes towards members and fellow employees while instilling a sense of team spirit throughout the branch. Ensures all policies and procedures are followed.

Essential Function & Primary Responsibilities
  • Communicate properly with all employees to ensure positive and clear understanding of credit union goals and direction.
  • Assist Branch Manager in supervising branch team to include setting schedules, approving time off, conducting monthly coaching meetings, and providing observations and feedback.
  • Assist Branch Manager with maintaining the security of the branch and personnel by adhering to all security policies and procedures. Must comply with dual control on cash procedures as well as ensure timely completion of all audit schedules and policies.
  • Operates as Branch Manager in their absence and oversees all sales and operations of the Branch.
  • Responsible for implementing the coaching training for Branch Tellers and MSR’s regarding sales processes and provide additional training and support on the credit union’s products and services, cross-selling techniques, and service standards.
  • Responsible for assisting Branch Manager in meeting sales goals. This includes making outside business calls and meeting with potential commercial and consumer account prospects.
  • Assist Branch Manager with positively promoting teamwork among branch staff and internal members and departments
  • Interview members for financial information and provide accurate application for approval by Loan officer to include checking credit report and collateral value for non-pre-approved loans
  • Must be able to establish new accounts for eligible members and sell the financial services that best meet the needs of the members.
  • Maintain knowledge of all credit union products and services; cross sell those that best meet the members’ needs
  • Obtain and complete required documentation for all consumer loans and process all closings for pre-approved and non-instant loans as scheduled by the Loan Officer.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Asset Controls, and should request legal interpretation as necessary. Must ensure subordinates are also compliant with such laws and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Finance or Business is a plus! Or similar related experience
  • One to three years of progressive supervisory or leadership experience
  • Two to three years of similar related experience with sales and lending and demonstrate an ability to teach others cross selling techniques
  • Must have sales and service, planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, presentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to diffuse member conflict and be solutions based for both members and staff
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to adhere to internal policies as well as external policies and regulations set forth by the NCUA
  • Be adaptable to change and embrace SPARK! service standards
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Software
Skills & Abilities:
  • Exhibit a highly positive, member-service oriented attitude and the ability to anticipate the needs and initiate assistance beyond duties assigned
  • Ability to demonstrate the ability to grow and deepen member relationships and teach branch staff the same skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, Board of Directors, members, and other external contacts. External contacts may include member companies, vendors, financial institutions, auditor/examiners, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and business associations
  • Must be able to work extended hours in order to accomplish organizational and or sales function goals
  • Must be able to quickly learn core processing system (Symitar) and possess business computer experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and other general business software
  • Presents a positive and professional image to members through effective and courteous verbal and written communications
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
  • Ability to be mindfully flexible and willing to go with the flow
