Position Overview

The Akron Board of Education is seeking applications for the Assistant Varsity Boys Wrestling Coach position at Garfield High School. Compensation is based on the supplemental contract schedule. Qualifications

Required:

1. Previous coaching experience in high school or youth wrestling.
2. CPR and Pupil Activity Certification prior to the season start.
3. Strong knowledge of wrestling skills, fundamentals, and rules.
4. Willingness to commit to evening and weekend practices and events.

Desired:

1. Valid Ohio teaching license.
2. Successful teaching experience.
3. Current full-time contract with Akron Public Schools.

Position Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing the wrestling program within district and state regulations.
• Coach and manage student-athletes.

• Create conditioning and training programs, ensuring safety.
• Organize practice sessions and ensure athlete safety.
• Manage coaching staff adherence to guidelines.

• Oversee student eligibility and assist with college recruitment.
• Manage facilities and equipment use.
• Attend workshops and clinics for professional development.
• Report to the Athletic Director and Principal.
