Job summary

Marblehead Public Schools Marblehead Public Athletics Department in Marblehead, MA seeks an Assistant Boys Tennis Coach to lead and develop the JV team, plan practices, and supervise matches and related travel.

The coach will teach tennis skills and strategy, promote teamwork, sportsmanship, respect and responsibility, and assist with fundraising and compliance with district requirements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Make practice plans and prepare the team to compete.
• Attend all practices and matches, including supervising on the bus to and from away matches.
• Communicate the team's practice and game schedule with the team and parents or guardians.
• Communicate all fundraising activities with the team and parents or guardians.
• Organize, distribute, and collect uniforms from the team.
• Maintains a positive staff relationship with other coaches and the trainer.
• Work with the varsity coach and athletic director to ensure compliance with all necessary requirements and regulations, including safety and liability issues.

Job Description

The Marblehead High School Assistant Boys Tennis Coach is responsible for leading and motivating a JV team of high school players to practice regularly, compete in matches, and attend fundraising activities. The coach is expected to teach players various tennis skills and strategies. In addition, the coach will promote teamwork, sportsmanship,respect, commitment, integrity, and responsibility. Below are the essential qualifications, requirements, and responsibilities of an Assistant Boys Tennis Coach:

QUALIFICATION

• Knowledge of tennis techniques, strategy, and plays.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Ability to mentor and motivate athletes, providing guidance, feedback, and support to help them achieve their goals
• Organizational and management skills, including the ability to schedule and plan practices and events.
• Familiarity with tennis rules, etiquette, and safety guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience playing and or coaching tennis
• Leads by example regarding the promotion of sportsmanship
• Must complete all Massachusetts coaching requirements, which includes the NFHS Concussion Certificate
• Must complete Marblehead School District requirements: Fingerprinting, CORI Background check
• Must complete CPR/AED and First Aid Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, and the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit
• Be exposed to heat, humidity, dust, rain, snow, and other weather and adverse environmental conditions.
• The ability to travel between locations
