Job summary

Davenport Community Schools is seeking a Boys Assistant Swimming Coach to lead and develop a varsity program. You will teach fundamentals, motivate student-athletes, and collaborate with admin, staff, and boosters to promote a strong swim culture.

You will coordinate conditioning, oversee practices, arrange parent meetings, and ensure compliance with district policies. The ideal candidate demonstrates integrity, communication skills, and a commitment to student success.

Qualifications

• Must monitor and evaluate student-athletes' academic progress in and out of season.
• Must lead by example with high character and strong morals.
• Must complete all paperwork to communicate with the Activities office (transportation, eligibility, physicals).
• Must organize fundraisers for wrestling program.
• Must work with Athletic Boosters to staff concessions and attend one meeting per year.
• Must hold a valid Iowa Coaching Authorization or Iowa Teaching License with Coaching Endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Teach and coach students in swimming fundamentals and techniques.
• Develop and maintain a competitive swim program.
• Motivate student-athletes to excel in pool and classroom.
• Communicate with administration, staff, students, and booster club.
• Support conditioning and weight training with strength coaches.
• Organize and host parent meetings and awards ceremonies.
