Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Coach within the Athletics department to lead and support the school's athletic program. You will contribute to the development, implementation, and enhancement of assigned sports, fostering student-athlete growth and program excellence aligned with district goals.

The role focuses on practice support, supervision, academic monitoring collaboration with staff, and ensuring proper paperwork and game management.

Qualifications

Must complete MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
Strong commitment to student-athlete concept and knowledge of eligibility center regulations.
Ability to supervise student-athletes and manage equipment and paperwork.

Responsibilities

Assist with practices by emphasizing teamwork, skill development, and student-athlete improvement.
Assist with academic monitoring with teachers, counselors, and academic support staff.
Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests; be on time for practices and games.
Assist in keeping equipment and inventory in good condition.
Handle required paperwork: rosters, physicals, insurance forms, and parent consent forms.
Provide information for transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
Model and promote sportsmanship and ethical conduct at practices and contests.
Assist in coordinating the program and promoting student-athlete academic and athletic achievements.
Pursue professional growth through clinics and publications.
