Orting Middle School, member of the Plateau League, seeks an Assistant Boys’ Basketball Coach (Non-continuing). The head coach oversees the entire middle school sports program.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience in coaching/participating in basketball
  • Knowledge of basketball techniques and strategies
  • Meet all W.I.A.A. requirements for the Washington State Coaching Standards
  • Communicate positively and effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills necessary to run a solid middle school program
  • Successful experience working with teenage athletes
  • Ability to motivate teens to reach their highest potential academically through sportsmanship
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduate or completion of a GED
  • At least 19 years of age
  • Current first aid and CPR training
  • Flexible schedule
  • Available immediately after school – 2:25 pm
Terms of Employment

Location: Orting Middle School
Work Year: 2025-26 Middle School Winter Season
Work Start: Middle school dismissal at 2:25 PM, Mon–Thu
Salary: 2025-26 OXA Extra Curricular Salary Schedule Appendix A
Reports to: Director of Athletics & Activities

Eligibility depends on hours worked. Coaching positions may not be benefit eligible. Regular employees who also coach and work 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability, and employee assistance program.
