Job summary

Columbia River High School in Vancouver, WA, seeks an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach to support the program under the Athletic Director and building Principal. The role includes leading practices, developing game plans, and mentoring student athletes for the 2026-2027 year.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the sport and current coaching fundamentals.
• Recent coaching experience with K-12 athletes preferred.
• Current First Aid and CPR or ability to obtain before start date.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse student and parent community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and articulate a vision for the program and character development.
• Recruit student athletes for participation in the school program.
• Conduct practices focusing on technique and mechanics.
• Attend and supervise games; execute game strategy.
• Attend Coaches’ Institute training annually.
• Model sportsmanship and collaborate with staff, students, and families.
• Organize, supervise, and evaluate practice sessions.
• Adhere to WIAA, league, district, and school policies.
• Maintain equipment and uniforms; manage inventory.
• Communicate effectively with diverse parties and work as a team.
