Responsibilities

• Fosters professional and interpersonal relations with staff, students, and parents.
• Cooperates with building principal and athletic director.

• Engages in activities that promote growth and development of players and staff.
• Motivates staff and players toward goals; maintains respectful conduct during practices and games.
• Attends league, conference, and WVSSAC meetings and adheres to policies.
• Designs effective practice sessions and pre-season planning; oversees managers and support personnel.
• Manages budget and follows purchasing procedures; completes WVSSAC training and concussion certification.

Requirements for Certified Teachers

NewTEACHERS that have been hired after July 1, 2012 who apply to coach on the secondary level (grades 6-12) must have completed the three hour training session provided by Kanawha County Schools and completethe On-line Concussion Awareness Course throughthe KCS Staff Development Site

The training courses will be taught throughout the year.

Cost of the course will be $15.00

This requirement will allow new teachers hired after July 1, 2012 by Kanawha County Schools to be able to coach on the first day of practice of each specified sport identified
