Assistant Bay Ridge Program Manager

Position Overview

The Assistant Bay Ridge Program Manager supports the Program Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Bay Ridge residential program. This position combines direct support, program coordination, staff leadership, and operational oversight to help ensure high-quality services and a safe, recovery-oriented environment for the individuals we serve.

The Assistant Program Manager will provide leadership coverage in the Program Manager's absence, support staff, coordinate care, assist with admissions and transitions, and help maintain compliance with agency policies and program standards.

Key Responsibilities
Recovery & Direct Support
  • Maintain current knowledge of individuals served, including diagnoses, psychiatric and medical history, treatment plans, medications, strengths, needs, and recovery goals
  • Assist individuals in identifying, developing, and pursuing personalized recovery goals
  • Assess individuals' stages of change and utilize appropriate, person-centered interventions
  • Provide support with activities of daily living (ADLs), money management, meal planning and nutrition, shopping, cleaning, transportation, and other independent living skills
  • Promote independence, self-determination, and community integration
  • Consistently model and apply Recovery Model and trauma-informed care principles
Program Leadership & Staff Supervision
  • Provide leadership and supervisory coverage in the Program Manager's absence
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and assist with emergency and on-call coverage
  • Direct daily staff activities and provide guidance, coaching, and support
  • Review employee timesheets for accuracy and compliance with overtime requirements
  • Facilitate team meetings and ensure meeting minutes are completed and distributed
  • Support effective communication and collaboration among program staff and other members of the treatment team
Residential & Operational Oversight
  • Monitor the overall condition, safety, cleanliness, and functionality of program residences
  • Coordinate maintenance and operational requests as needed
  • Conduct routine checks of residential environments and identify potential safety concerns
  • Report unsafe, hazardous, or otherwise unsuitable living conditions promptly
  • Help ensure residences remain welcoming, safe, and supportive environments for individuals served
Care Coordination & Medication Monitoring
  • Coordinate psychiatric and medical care with nurses, healthcare providers, pharmacies, and program staff
  • Monitor medication administration in accordance with agency policies and procedures
  • Review medication supplies and inspect residential medication storage areas
  • Identify and communicate medication concerns, discrepancies, or changes to nursing staff and the Program Manager
  • Support continuity of care and communication across providers and services
Admissions, Transitions & Crisis Intervention
  • Assist with referrals, admissions, new move-ins, transitions, and discharges
  • Ensure residences are appropriately prepared for new individuals entering the program
  • Recognize early warning signs of psychiatric or physical decompensation
  • Utilize appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies to promote safety and stabilization
  • Assess whether behavioral changes are related to situational stressors or potential symptom exacerbation and respond appropriatelyCollaborate with clinical and program leadership during crisis situations
Schedule & Work Environment

Employment Type: Full-Time

This position requires a flexible schedule based on program needs. The schedule may include:

  • Day, evening, and weekend shifts
  • On-call responsibilities
  • Leadership coverage during the Program Manager's absence
  • Travel between various program locations

The successful candidate must be flexible, dependable, and willing to respond to the operational needs of a residential program.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience working in mental health, psychosocial rehabilitation, residential services, or a related human services setting
  • Experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of the Recovery Model, person-centered services, and trauma-informed care
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to provide effective leadership and make sound decisions in a residential environment
  • Ability to respond appropriately and calmly to crisis situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals served, families, staff, healthcare providers, and community partners
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required due to travel between program locations
