Job summary

A university in South Carolina seeks an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach to instruct athletes and ensure compliance with NCAA rules. In this role, the coach will evaluate opponents, develop game plans, and perform recruiting activities. A Bachelor’s Degree and three years of collegiate coaching experience are required. This position includes responsibilities for ensuring academic progress and supporting various athletic departments. Candidates must be willing to travel and work flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of collegiate coaching experience, preferably at Division I level.
• Ability to coach and develop assigned position group focusing on fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate opponents and develop a game plan for student-athlete instruction.
• Perform recruiting activities and responsibilities as assigned by Head Coach.
• Support and enforce academic guidelines for student-athlete academic progress.
• Support, abide and enforce all academic guidelines and policies of the College, athletics department, and men’s basketball program to ensure academic progress of the student-athlete as directed by Head Coach
• Support and work cooperatively with Sports Medicine/Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, NCAACompliance, Media Relations etc. area in accordance with department policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Head Coach.

Under the direction of the Men’s Basketball Head Coach, the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach instructs and works with athletes to prepare them for competition. Assists as an expert with regards to the rules, strategies and techniques of their sport. Ensures compliance with NCAA Division I, CAA and College of Charleston rules and philosophies. Encourages and facilitates physical fitness, safety, and proper use of sport and training equipment.

Bachelor’s Degree, Three years minimum collegiate coaching experience (preferably at the Division I) required. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations for this sport.

Additional Comments Regarding Position

Overnight and out-of-state travel required. Weekend and evening hours are required.
