Job Summary
Reporting to the Head Baseball Coach, Strength Conditioning, the Assistant Baseball Coach/Recruitment Coordinator/PHAC will support the daily operations of the baseball program. Responsibilities include coaching, practice and game preparation, scheduling, strength and conditioning, scouting, practice planning, budget development and oversight, fundraising, equipment purchasing and maintenance, coordinating and supervising team travel, and monitoring the personal, academic, and athletic development of student-athletes.
Job Duties
- 40% - Coaching and Program Support: Assist the Head Coach in practices, strength and conditioning sessions, game-day preparations, scouting, and in-game support. Help implement team strategies and skill development. (Essential)
- 30% - Recruitment Coordination: Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes, coordinate recruitment communications, and organize campus visits. Ensure compliance with NCAA, SCIAC, and institutional regulations. (Essential)
- 15% - Compliance and Policy Enforcement: Follow and enforce Occidental College and Athletics policies, NCAA and SCIAC rules. Educate athletes on compliance and uphold integrity. (Essential)
- 10% - Student-Athlete Development: Support academic, personal, and athletic growth of athletes. Foster a positive, inclusive team culture aligned with college mission. (Essential)
- 5% - Departmental Engagement and Representation: Attend meetings and college functions as needed. Represent Occidental Athletics positively. (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in athletics, sports management, training, or related field.
- At least one year of coaching experience.
- Strong commitment to student-athletes’ academic success, good communication, organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively within NCAA, SCIAC, and college rules.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Adobe Acrobat, Web editing, and social media tools.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills; interpersonal skills for collaboration.
- Commitment to justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity.
- Ability to work independently in a high-volume, confidential environment with changing priorities.
- Self-motivation and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of college coaching experience, including at the collegiate level.
Expected hiring range: $57,200/year. Final salary will depend on skills, experience, and location, with consideration for pay equity and internal equity. Occidental offers a comprehensive benefits package.
