Job summary

HEI Hotels & Resorts in Virginia Beach seeks an experienced Banquet Supervisor to manage dual-property operations and ensure top-tier service for events on the Marriott Oceanfront and Embassy Suites properties.

You will lead banquet teams, coordinate setups, and ensure SOP compliance while maintaining guest satisfaction and smooth event execution. This role adds growth through leadership across two celebrated properties.

Qualifications

• Post-high school education or degree preferred.
• Minimum 1+ years of supervisor or lead experience in hospitality banquet operations.
• Dual-property or hotel banquet management experience preferred.
• Knowledge of POS systems and catering software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervising and directing Banquet associates across dual-property operations.
• Support the hiring process, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance evaluations of banquet staff.
• Oversee daily on-the-floor operations, ensuring SOPs and safety regulations are followed.
• Meet with event hosts on-site to review BEOs and accommodate changes.
• Verify banquet checks, present to clients for signature, and process charges.
• Assist in calculating and preparing daily service charges and payroll for Accounting.
• Monitor equipment care, sanitation, and maintenance across banquet spaces.
• Maintain flexible scheduling to support high-volume periods across both properties.
• Step in to assist team members with setup, service, or breakdown as needed.

Overview

Assist in supervising the daily operations of the Banquet areas across properties (Marriott Oceanfront and Embassy Suites) to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service, and compliance with local and corporate standard operating procedures. Support leadership in managing multi-property event execution, ensuring consistency in service standards and product delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with supervising and directing Banquet associates, including captains, servers, lead housemen, and housemen across dual-property operations.


• Support the hiring process, scheduling, training, coaching, counseling, and performance evaluation of banquet staff.


• Oversee daily on-the-floor operations (monitoring setups, food and beverage preparation, and service) ensuring strict compliance with SOPs, Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and safety regulations.


• Meet directly with event hosts and clients on-site to review BEOs, accommodate last-minute changes, resolve immediate concerns, and ensure smooth event execution.


• Verify the accuracy of banquet checks, present them to clients for signature, and process charges accurately.


• Assist in calculating and preparing daily service charges and payroll for prompt submission to the Accounting Department.


• Monitor, maintain, and enforce equipment care, sanitation, and physical maintenance across all banquet storage and event spaces.


• Maintain flexible scheduling availability to support high-volume periods, late-night events, and weekend functions across both properties.


• Step in to assist team members with hands-on setup, service, or breakdown as needed to ensure seamless event execution.


• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Banquet Manager or Director of Banquets.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education

• Post-high school education or degree preferred.


• Minimum 1+ years of supervisor or lead experience in hospitality banquet operations, catering, or food & beverage management.


• Dual-property or hotel banquet management experience preferred.

Knowledge

• Working knowledge of hotel banquet/catering food and beverage services, standards, and operations.


• Familiarity with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, catering management software, and general computer systems.


• Ability to process basic banquet math, compile reporting figures, and review event billing according to established procedures.


• Hands-on leadership style with a strong \"pitch-in\" mindset and dedication to teamwork.


• Basic understanding of hotel operations, quality assurance programs, safety standards, and labor management.


• Strong organization, multi-tasking, and priority-setting skills necessary to coordinate operations between two properties.


• Ability to remain calm and effective under tight event deadlines and high-pressure situations.

Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests, vendors, and staff.
