Job description

SUMMARY:

The Assistant Banking Center Manager (ABCM) supervises staff at a Cape Cod 5 Banking Center, monitoring performance and operations to ensure high customer care. They act as a trusted financial advisor, offering a full range of financial services to meet customer goals, and support staff in achieving professional development as part of the retail management team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Supervise and mentor Banking Center staff, overseeing daily duties, scheduling, and coaching.
  2. Monitor management reports and assist in decision-making.
  3. Build rapport with customers, understand account types, and respond promptly to inquiries, demonstrating a caring attitude (GUEST philosophy).
  4. Provide backup support to the Banking Center Manager.
  5. Deliver excellent customer service, handle transactions, and resolve issues per bank policies.
  6. Perform banking transactions, including deposits, loan payments, check cashing, and issuing money orders and bonds.
  7. Manage opening and closing activities of the Banking Center.
  8. Promote the bank's deposit and loan products, assessing customer needs and making referrals to other lines of business.
  9. Discuss lending opportunities and assist with loan applications.
  10. Maintain customer confidentiality and comply with laws and policies.
  11. Complete assigned training timely and perform vault custodian duties.
  12. Participate in meetings, coaching, and community events.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (5+ years) in financial services, with willingness to pursue further education.
  • Complete Small Business Lending training within 12 months.
  • NMLS registration and Notary Public commission.
  • Medallion signature guarantee training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • At least 3 years of retail banking experience, including supervisory roles.
  • Knowledge of all bank business lines.
  • Ability to independently handle transactions, account openings, and complex banking activities.
  • Supervisory skills at RBI-IV level.
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in customer relationship building.
  • Leadership and management capabilities.
  • Cybersecurity awareness.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Frequent movement, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), reaching, equipment use, and communication skills are required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primarily climate-controlled office environment, some travel to remote locations, including overnight stays up to 5%. Noise levels are moderate, with no significant environmental hazards.
